How To Remove Loste False Nails

how to remove your loste false nails

Removing your Loste press-ons should feel just as effortless as applying them. Our 5-layer gel nails are designed to come off cleanly, without damage, so your natural nails stay healthy and your falsies stay ready for round two (or three... or ten).

In this guide, we’ll walk you through the safest way to remove your nails, whether you applied them with our long-wear glue or quick-change sticky tabs and show you how to store and care for them so you can reuse your set again and again.

What You'll Need:

  1. A bowl of warm, soapy water or acetone-free remover
  2. A cuticle stick (included in your Loste kit)
  3. Nail file (also included)
  4. Cotton pads (optional)
  5. Loste Cuticle Oil (for aftercare)

Step-by-Step: How to Remove Press-On Nails Applied with Glue

Prep time: 2 minutes

Removal time: 5-10 minutes

Step 1: Soak your nails

Fill a small bowl with warm, soapy water. Soak your nails for 10–15 minutes to loosen the glue. Add a splash of cuticle oil to speed up the process and hydrate your nails.

Step 2: Gently lift the nail edge

Use the flat end of your cuticle stick to very gently lift the edge of the press-on. Work slowly, never force it.

Step 3: Continue soaking as needed

If the nail doesn’t come off easily, soak for another 5–10 minutes and try again. Patience is key for damage-free removal.

Step 4: Clean off any glue residue

Use your nail file to lightly buff off any remaining glue and then wipe clean.

Step 5: Hydrate and nourish

Finish by massaging Loste Cuticle Oil into your nails and skin to restore moisture and keep your natural nails strong.

How to Remove Press-On Nails Applied with Sticky Tabs

Prep time: 0 minutes

Removal time: 3 minutes

Step 1: Gently lift from the edge

Start by peeling the nail away from the edge with your cuticle stick. Sticky tabs are much easier to remove than glue, so this step should be quick.

Step 2: Clean your nails

Peel off the sticky tab from the back of the false nail using a cuticle stick. You can then wipe away any leftover sticky residue on your natural nails with an alcohol wipe or a bit of soapy water.

Step 3: Apply cuticle oil

Even with sticky tabs, nourishing your cuticles helps maintain healthy nails between applications.

Removal Tips for Reuse:

  1. Never rip or pop off your nails — this can damage both your press-ons and your natural nails.
  2. Always remove using warm water or oil-based soak-off methods for gentle separation.
  3. Store your nails in the original Loste packaging or a clean case to keep them ready for reuse.
