Christy Llewellyn
Hi I’m Christy, the founder of Loste,
I’m a fashion designer with a background in e-commerce and marketing, and I’ve spent most of my career working with fashion and beauty brands behind the scenes, helping entrepreneurs build their businesses, but I always knew I wanted to be one. I launched my first business when I was 16, and after many attempts, I found something that really clicked with Loste.
False nails have been part of my life for as long as I can remember. My nan wears them all the time, and when I started working on fashion shoots, I noticed how often they were used to quickly fix models’ nails. I started wearing them myself between salon visits or when I couldn’t afford to go, and I realised I liked them more. Salon acrylics ruined my nails, but falsies helped them grow stronger, and they were cheaper, quicker, and easier to switch up.
During COVID, I was running a vintage clothing business and using false nails constantly for content shoots. With salons closed, I relied on them more than ever, and that’s when I started getting frustrated. The quality wasn’t great, the styles were limited, and the packaging was bad. I knew I could do better.
Six months later, I had my first box of Loste false nails, launched a simple website, and started selling. From day one, people were interested. In the first year, I got my first stockist, five stores in Switzerland, and even had a little feature on the BBC. The next year, things grew again, and then the year after, we went viral, reaching nearly 3 million people with the ‘Nail Emergency’ campaign. That’s when I decided to invest in improving the product and relaunching the brand.
My goal with Loste is to be the #1 false nail brand in the UK, creating reusable, high-quality nails that last. Since launching, we’ve sold thousands of sets around the world and built a community that’s all about shaking up the way we do our nails. Loste is for anyone who loves nails but wants them on their own terms; reusable, easy to apply, affordable, and kinder to their nails and the planet.
Join the reusable revolution…
