When you hear the phrase 'press-on nails', you probably picture those thick, plasticky drugstore falsies that bend easily and pop off before you've even left the house. I hate those too.
When I started Loste, my mission was simple: to create premium, salon-quality, reusable false nails and become the number one false nail brand in the UK. I wanted to build something that completely bridged the gap between high-end salon artistry and at-home kits.
To make this happen, I sourced the best technology, materials, and accessories to guarantee you the strongest, longest-lasting mani possible.
What Are the Most Realistic False Nails?
Loste nails are made with an advanced 5-layer soft-gel technology rather than traditional single-layer plastic. This mimics the precise apex, strength, and premium finish of salon acrylics while tapering seamlessly at the cuticle line to flush against your natural nail.
Traditional drugstore fake nails are injection-moulded out of a thin ABS plastic. Because there's only one uniform layer, they are often see-through, flimsy, and look completely flat.

The Loste Difference: How We Replicate the Salon Look
This is Loste gives you the most realistic press on nails at home:
-
Advanced 5-Layer Soft Gel: Our nails are built up in five distinct layers using a soft-gel technology that mirrors the thickness and strength of salon acrylics.
-
Our Seamless Cuticle Taper: While cheap plastic falsies are blocky and uniform from top to bottom, we design our nails with a laser-thin, ultra-flexible edge at the base. It sits completely flush against your cuticle line, meaning zero gaps and zero ridges.
-
The Salon-Grade Apex: Expert salon extensions have a slight natural curve in the centre for structural integrity and depth. Our 5-layer gel structure perfectly replicates this dimension, being thicker at the tip and thinner at the cuticle for the most realistic finish possible.
-
Sizing That Actually Fits: If a nail overlaps your skin or exposes the sides of your natural nail bed, the illusion is broken. Standard high-street packs only give you a handful of sizes, but every kit of Loste reusable press-on nails includes 30 false nails across a massive size spectrum to ensure a bespoke, seamless fit.

How to Apply Press-Ons for a Flawless Finish
Even with the best soft-gel technology, your application technique can make a huge difference to how long your press-on nails last. That’s why every Loste kit includes everything you need to prep like a pro: a prep pad, nail file, and cuticle stick.
To make your false nails look completely undetectable, follow these three non-negotiable steps:
1. Prep your Nails
It's really important to follow all the prep steps before applying your nails. Start by pushing back your cuticles with the cuticle stick. Then gently buff the surface of your nails with the nail file, this will create some texture for the glue to stick to. The last step is to use your Loste nail prep pad to fully clean and dehydrate your nails. Make sure to read our full tutorial on applying your Loste press-on nails.
2. The 45-Degree Angle Trick
Whether you're applying with the Loste strong-hold nail glue or our false nail adheshive tabs, slide the base of the false nail right up to your cuticle line at a 45-degree angle first, then press it downward. This effortlessly pushes out air bubbles for a strong hold.
3. Keep them dry
Don't wash your hands for at least 30 minutes after applying to allow the glue to fully set to your dehydrated nails. After this your nails will be fully waterproof, so you can shower, swim and wash your hands as much as you need to.
The Quick Q&A Cheat Sheet
Which nail shape looks the most natural?
Almond and oval shapes are universally the most natural-looking because they mimic the organic silhouette of your hands and elongate the fingers. For a shorter, everyday look, go for the Loste Soft Girl, squoval nails (square-oval).
Can people actually tell you’re wearing press-ons?
Not with ours. Because our nails conform to the natural sideways curve of your nail bed and are finished with an ultra-glossy gel topcoat, they look entirely indistinguishable from a fresh salon gel set.
Do they cause damage?
Unlike salon acrylics that require aggressive drilling, our premium press-ons actually protect your natural nails. Paired with our gentle warm water and oil removal process, your natural nails stay completely healthy and intact.
